                              Areeya's September Surprise

        On Friday we were pleasantly surprised with the birth of Areeya's cria. She came as quite a surprise, indeed, as we had her due date down as September 24. I was heading out the driveway & noticed a gathering in the pasture & figured I'd better go investigate.As I got closer I saw the new baby struggling to get to her feet & broke into a run. After checking to make sure everything was okay, I regained my composure & went into the house to get the towels & antiseptic to dip the navel in.I then gathered the baby up & took her & Mom into a seperate pasture so that they could bond without interference from the rest of the girls. She was up & nursing in no time & she & Areeya are doing great!

 We've decided to name her Areeya's September Surprise, as she looks like a carbon copy of her mom,Areeya, & she certainly was a surprise!
